Justin Timberlake Staged Janet Jackson’s Wardrobe Malfunction At 2004 Super Bowl To Outdo Britney Spears, Says Stylist
Back in 2003, Britney Spears and Madonna, along with Christina Aguilera, surprised everyone as they locked lips during the middle of their set at the 2003 Video Music Awards. This incident on stage had garnered a lot of attention back then. A few months after that, another incident hit the headlines. It was about Janet Jackson’s ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at 2004 Super Bowl, during her appearance with Britney Spears’ former boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Now, a stylist who had worked on Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl appearance, has claimed that Justin Timberlake set up Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction to outdo Britney Spears.

While speaking to Page Six, stylist Wayne Scot Lukas claimed that Justin Timberlake had ‘pushed’ for the wardrobe malfunction, and had insisted on doing something bigger than his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears’ performance. “He wanted a reveal,” said the stylist. He further added that initially, the concept of Janet and Justin’s performance at the Super Bowl was for Janet to be in a pearl G- string, and that Justin was going to step on the back of her dress to reveal her butt in the pearl G-string.

However, he said that the outfit changed a few days before the performance, and instead, their performance ended with Justin ripping a portion of Janet’s top, exposing her breast on stage.

Wayne Scot Lukas further added, “I wouldn’t call it a wardrobe ‘malfunction’ in a million years. It was the most functioning wardrobe in history. As a stylist, it did what it was intended to do.”
